President’s Report – June 2018

In a lot of ways, summer never ends in St. Louis.  Before we can even tell that Spring has arrived, summer has sashayed itself to our daily lives, bringing with it the warmth of the sun and summer fun.  We are excited to offer our very first Membership Breakfast! We wanted to give our members that can’t attend lunch meetings, the opportunity to attend a membership meeting! Our June Breakfast will be on Wednesday, June 20th at Catering to You at 7:30 a.m. and it will be a SPEED NETWORKING EVENT! If you haven’t been to our Speed Networking Meetings, this is a fun event that allows you to network and meet so many other Chamber business members, so SIGN UP TODAY!

Our Annual Golf Tournament was a success with more golfers signed up this year than in years past! Thank you to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for being our event sponsor! Flight A first-place winners were City of Florissant’s Mayor Schneider, Dave Estes, Skip Wilson and George Biederman.  Flight A second-place winners were City of Ferguson’s Mayor James Knowles III, Matt Unrein, and Matt Bebe.  Flight B first-place winners with Morrison Travel’s Bill Morrison, Kent Miller Andrew Hemt, and Walt Chavode.  Flight B second-place winners were Pironne’s John Jaworski, Jake Puckett, Nathan Jaworski and Dan Schmidt.  Ladies Closest to the Pin Flight A winner was Daniel & Henry Company’s Dana Grimm, and Flight B winner was Ameriprise Financial’s Halina Conti.  Men’s Closest to the Pin Flight A winner was Jason Prinzi and Flight B winner was Pironne’s Nathan Jaworski.  Longest Drive Women’s winner was Jean Ruiz, and the Men’s winner was Bob Smith.  A special thanks to all of our major sponsors and our amazing group of volunteers: Bret Berigan, Darla Tinker, Rebecca Zoll, Brian Douglas, Tadessa Murray, Jamie Cruce, Marlon Lee, Derek Wellman, Mark Bretz, Carla Hayes-Hill, Tamika Holmes, David Cox, Paul Magnelli, Dahri Pearson, and Mike Moehlenkamp! And a very special shout out to Jaime and Danielle for working so hard all week to make it a successful and fun event! Thank you to the Florissant Golf Club for doing an amazing job accommodating us!

Make sure you join us for our June Business After Hours at Hendel’s on June 21st from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.  There’s nothing better than networking and enjoying a beautiful summer evening with your Chamber friends!

If you haven’t stopped by the office, please do so and welcome our new Office Assistant, Danielle Puckett! Danielle brings such incredible skills and talent to our team! We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board! Please stop by and say hello to her!

Sign your team up for our Scholarship Bowl for August 2nd at Crest Bowl! Visit the chamber website or call our office for details! We sold out last year, so don’t wait, don’t hesitate, claim your lane today!

We are looking for committee members for our “Run, Kick & Play @ The Shrine” event for October 20th.  Please contact the chamber office for more information on the fun filled day that we’re planning for our community!

I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about some phenomenal individuals that have made such positive impact on our lives and our community.  Sister Karl Mary Winkelman with Trinity Catholic High School has been a beacon of hope, light and joy for all of us and she championed the way for Catholic education to stay in North County.  She is small but mighty and is she opening up the next chapter in her life: retirement.  We will miss her incredibly and wish her every joy in her next venture! Another leader going into retirement is John Caravelli! John was a past chair and president of the Chamber and served as President of the Florissant Citizens National Bank for 29 ½ years! Thank you, John, for your dedication to our community! You will be greatly missed!

I leave you with the thought to always take the scenic route… as summer wraps its rays around us, remember to watch more sunsets than Netflix ?
