President’s Report – January 2019

Happy New Year! How exciting to see another year begin! Has anyone written their 2019 New Year’s Resolution down? I’ve got a couple swimming in my brain… learn something new, organize my desk and continue to help others.  Take a moment or two to jot some of your thoughts down for 2019.

Join us for our Installation Luncheon on January 16th at Christian Hospital’s Dietrich Building.  We will be installing our new board members, recognizing outstanding Chamber members that have stepped up in 2018, and recognizing our retiring municipal mayors.  Lunch is $40 per person, please contact the chamber office to reserve your spot at 314-831-3500.

In February, it is our privilege to honor our Business Leader of the Year, Cathy Bono.  Cathy has devoted over 37 years of her life to caring for thousands of senior citizens in our community.  Please join us on February 20th in recognizing her.

As the chamber looks ahead, I want to thank our 2018 Board Chair Bret Berigan for his leadership and dedication in 2018.  2018 was a great year for the Greater North County Chamber with some challenges and triumphs and we couldn’t have made it successful without Bret.  Thank you Bret!

I am excited to welcome our new 2019 Board Chair Darla Tinker with US Bank.  If you don’t know Darla, she is a wonderful wealth of knowledge! She leads with service and we look forward to her leadership in 2019.  A BIG THANK YOU to our outgoing board members: Past Chair Mike Moehlenkamp (Gary’s Auto Service), Halina Conti (Ameriprise Financial), Dr. Adam Howell (Howell Chiropractic), Ricky Hopkins, Sr. (A List Realtors), and Derek Wellman (Amore Pizza).  We are indebted to the service that you’ve given the chamber, thank you so much!

Community News will be sponsoring “The Best in North County” again this year.  Watch for the ad in the Community News this month and remember to vote for your favorite North County Chamber business.

Lastly, if you are not involved in a committee, we would love for you to get involved! We are always looking for our chamber members to participate in making our events more creative and strengthening our chamber.  Please call the chamber office and we would love to share with you the different opportunities for you to get involved.

We have a couple of dates available for our Business After Hours, if you are interested, please call the chamber office.

I hope that this first month of the year energizes you with renewed hope for the future, like C.S. Lewis stated, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

Venus Martz
Chamber President
