Life Source Consultants
Life Source Consultants is a domestic and sexual violence crisis center helping physically and emotionally scarred individuals, regardless of age, ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, circumstance, or race.
CRISIS HELPLINE
Staff and volunteers provide a listening ear and support which meets the urgent emotional and physical need of callers who are victims and survivors of physical, mental, verbal, emotional, sexual abuse, rape or incest to increase their physical and emotional safety (safety planning, community resources/referrals, available legal services, etc.).
CRISIS INTERVENTION
Every client we serve has a program individually customized and coordinated according to her unique situation, her abuser, her children, her family background, her age, her religious beliefs and her culture. Individual sessions are provided to help her work towards emotional and mental well-being, to stabilize the crisis she is in because of the abuse until all of her issues are clarified and her action plans have been established.
THERAPY/PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING
Intensive professional treatment, evaluation of mental health needs and emotional support in crisis arising from the occurrence of abuse for victims and their children. For women in the Christian Community, spiritual counseling is available upon request.
CASE MANAGEMENT/PERSONAL, ADVOCACY/RESOURCES & REFERRALS
Clients are connected with various community resources (locating emergency financial assistance; intervention with employers, creditors, etc. on their behalf; assistance in filing for losses covered by public and private insurance programs, including workman’s compensation, unemployment benefits, TANF, etc. Services and follow-up are continued until all needs of our client are either met or unable to be met.
SUPPORT GROUPS
Group sessions are facilitated in an atmosphere where victims have the opportunity to explore their feelings and discussions with peers who may be struggling with similar issues. Videos and group discussions help participants gain new insights and perspective for their lives in a supportive and non-threatening environment.
EMERGENCY LEGAL ADVOCACY
Clients are assisted with filing temporary restraining orders and can be accompanied to court if requested. Legal Services of Eastern Missouri and referral attorneys assist with other legal issues.
DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE EDUCATION
Clients are equipped with the necessary tools to move past the victim stage and start to rebuild their lives and sense of self-worth. Victims begin positive personality growth, develop problem-solving, decision-making and life-survival skills.
ROAD TO RECOVERY
Limited assistance is provided to our clients who are escaping an abusive relationship or attempting to re-establish themselves after leaving such a situation. (Assistance is in the form of emergency cab transportation to receive services, clothing, hygiene items, household items, grocery vouchers, gas cards, bus tickets, limited utility/rent assistance, etc.).
