Chair’s Message – December 2016

Happy Holidays to All!

It is with mixed emotions that I write this newsletter as this is my last newsletter to you as your Chair. I hope that I have done things to make you all proud. I do wish that I had more time as your Chair, because part of me feels like I am just getting started. I am however, very grateful that I was able to fill this seat for you and that I will be here for another year and help Mike Moehlenkamp, your 2017 Chair, with his year and look forward to more successes in the year to come. I am also very pleased to welcome all of your new board members for 2017; Kim Bakker with SSM Health DePaul Hospital St. Louis, Dr. Joseph Davis with Ferguson-Florissant School District, Brian Douglas with The Husband Agency – Statefarm, Kitty Harrison with Johnny Londoff Chevrolet, Inc., Sharon Johnson with Central Bank of St. Louis, and Darla Tinker with U.S. Bank. If you happen to see any of these people out and about please welcome them to your board. Here is to a lot of success for THE BEST CHAMBER in 2017!!

Speaking of success…WOW WOW WOW is all I can say about our recent Nite of Stars Event. It was a full house and looked amazing. Everything was so wonderful from the beautiful center pieces, the food, and the live auction items. Another fun night to add to the books as we had music and DJ entertainment provided by Big Papa G who did another fantastic job as always. We had a large number of silent auction items and an outstanding 18 live auction items. Everyone had a great time bidding on those items as well and I know that I was out bid on the 15 items that I bid on. I wanted to thank each of you that were able to attend the event. I know that I say this ALL of the time, but it is so true, so I will say it again……our events can’t and won’t be successful without your contributions, so from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!! I want to thank our committee who did a great job securing the sponsorships, getting auction items and so much more, we can’t do this without a great working committee like this one. Last but surely not least, the Chamber Office (Jaime, Debbie and Judy)! These ladies work so hard ensuring that this event went off without a hitch and I just can’t thank them enough. They do so much for this organization and we are so truly blessed to have each of them. Thank you very much ladies and to all who helped WONKA this event out of the park!

I would also like to take a moment to congratulate the 2017 Business Person of the Year, Kurtis Barks from Complete Auto Body and Truck Repair. He was announced as the winner at our Nite of Stars event and will be honored at our January 18, 2017 luncheon. He is a very humble family man and truly deserving of this award. He does so much for this Chamber and for the community and will continue to be a part of this community as he stated at the Nite of Stars celebration. Thank you Kurt for all that you do!

Here is wishing you all the happiest of holidays from my family to yours. I hope that you all get to spend some much needed quality time with your friends and family this holiday season.

“You are as amazing as you let yourself be. Let me repeat that. You are as amazing as you let yourself be.”  ~ Elizabeth Alraune  ~ Let’s all try to remember this for 2017, because we are AMAZING!!!
