Chair’s Letter – May 2021
“It’s May, It’s May the lusty month of May. That time when everyone goes blissfully astray.” If this sounds like the start of a trivia question, it is. Can you name the Broadway Show and Movie that it is from, along with the composers? However, there is no prize this month. The answer will be at the bottom of this letter. It is, however, an introduction to the fact that our Eighth Annual Music Trivia Night was an overwhelming success. Thank you to everyone who participated. A special thank you to those who volunteered the night of the event; our committee members; and especially to our dedicated, hard-working staff.
Again, this month our events are clustered in the middle of the month. On May 13th, I will be conducting a legal seminar for small business owners. We didn’t’ have this last year – everyone knows why, but in the two years prior to that, it received positive comments. Some of the topics to be covered this year are: Can you require your employees to get the Covid vaccine; Service animals versus Support animals; and How to handle employee garnishments. Sign up on the Chamber website.
Also in May, on the 13th, we have our Business after Hours at Gary’s Auto Service. This is a great networking opportunity in an informal atmosphere. On May 15, we have our Business Showcase and Career Fair. This is an opportunity to highlight your business or, to potentially, to recruit new employees. Sign up at the Chamber office. Finally, on May 19, we have our monthly Chamber Luncheon. This is another excellent networking opportunity.
Don’t miss our Annual Golf Tournament, on June 4, at Florissant Golf Club. In addition to being the Chamber’s second largest fundraiser, this is also one of our truly “fun” events. Sign up your foursome today. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Contact the Chamber office.
Remember, you only get out of your Chamber membership what you put into it.
P.S. The answer to the trivia question is: “Camelot” and Lerner & Loewe.
