Chair’s Letter – June 2020
June is here, and summer is quickly approaching! Along with this new season comes a new hope that we can get back to all the activities that we love during this time of year. The days are now longer, which provides ample time for sports, cookouts, concerts, camping, amusement park trips, and other outdoor fun that we love during the summer months. While social distancing remains a necessity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unique methods are being established that will allow us to take part in our summer pleasantries. Just ask Disney and Six Flags!
June signifies summer and fun, but it is also the month in which we raise health awareness for our guys. That’s right. June is Men’s Health Month. Men, if you haven’t already gotten your annual physical, make your appointment today. An annual physical is the easiest means of catching a potentially dangerous condition early on. It is essential to know your numbers and how they change over time. Think about it; do you know your baseline blood pressure, PSA (prostate cancer risk screening), cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight? If you answered yes to this, good for you. If not, you have some work to do.
Thank you to all who helped make our Social Distancing Scavenger Hunt a success. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future. From the sound of things, a good time was had by all. Don’t forget to ink our upcoming activities onto your calendar. Music trivia will take place on July 24th, and the annual golf tournament is July 31st. Also, the annual scholarship bowl is scheduled for August 6th. There are opportunities for all to participate. Sponsorships are still available for these events. After being stuck inside for so long, it’s time we all get out to have some fun. The Chamber will continue to host weekly networking meetings every Thursday at noon via Zoom. Feel free to grab your lunch and join us for this entertaining, yet informative, get-to-know-you forum. Check out our website for a list of upcoming events and activities.
The Chamber is here to support you and your business. Our website listings, social media posts, and email blasts have proven to be quite beneficial for many of our members. The office will reopen June 1st with restricted entry and social distancing practices in place. Although you may not be able to visit us in person just yet, please don’t hesitate to give us a call for any questions or concerns. Again, thank you for supporting us while we support you.
