Chair’s Letter – July 2020

As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s birthday, we are in an unfamiliar place. We are at the dawn of a new nation both culturally and socially. It seems that America has reached her midlife crisis, a place of deep reflection and personal analysis. I would love to tell a joke about a Corvette here, but this is not that time or place. We have questions about whether or not we should celebrate or even if it’s safe. I say we take this opportunity to celebrate.

No, like many of us, the United States is not perfect, but not being perfect doesn’t necessarily make you not great. We have some work to do, yes, but we can do it. So, we should celebrate, not the past but the future. Our future is bright, and that is a reason for us all to look toward it. It may look different and be uncomfortable (initially), but it is ours, and we should embrace it.

Thank you to all who helped make our Business After Hours a success last week. We can’t wait to see everyone again. Please don’t forget to ink our upcoming activities onto your calendar. Music trivia will take place on July 24th, and the annual golf tournament is July 31st. Also, the yearly scholarship bowl is scheduled for August 6th. There are opportunities for all to participate. Our future, here at the Chamber, is bright because of all of our members. We are diverse, and because of that, we are strong. You are the heartbeat of America. Thank you.
